Vice-Chairperson

Mr. Claude Roy was appointed as Vice-Chairperson of the CIRB on March 3, 2008.

Since 1974, Mr. Roy has been in private practice, working in the areas of civil law, labour law, commercial law, criminal law, municipal law and bankruptcy law. He has significant expertise in administrative and penal law. Over the years, Mr. Roy has also served as President of the Barreau du Saguenay Lac-St-Jean and President of the Jonquière hospital foundation for several years. Further, Mr. Roy has been solicitor for the cities of Laterrière, La Baie and Jonquière.

Between April 2006 an March 2008, Mr. Roy was appointed as an ad hoc adjudicator and referee by the Minister of Labour, to hear cases of unjust dismissal and sit in appeal of wage recovery determinations by departmental inspectors.

Mr. Roy is a graduate of the Université Laval in Québec and was called to the Bar of Québec in 1974.
